New beginnings for love and a series

Love's Journey - Emily Murdoch

Nice quick read showing how faith can lead us to the place we need to be. Elizabeth's determination brought her to Sweet Grove and to Jonathan. She is a strong woman and brings out the best in him, and I loved their journey. Their pasts, slowly revealed, have me looking forward to the next book.

I received an ARC of this story as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

Characters that feel real

Logan's Luck - Lexi Post

Had a tough time putting this down. This is part of a series with interconnecting characters, and it is nice visiting with all of them, though the story stands alone. Logan's luck has changed since the baby although he does not trust it will continue. Jenna tries to be professional, but her attraction to Logan makes it hard. The struggles of both, financially and emotionally, keep the story moving forward.

An enjoyable hockey romance with suspense

Hard Stick: A Breakaway Novel - L.P. Dover

I love a hockey story with a heroine who really does not understand hockey but develops a love for the sport and an athlete. Kristen is hiding out, trying to lead a normal life. Kellan is finally looking for more than a one night stand. She tries to keep her distance, but Kellan does not give up and neither do her few friends. Going out for that one date changes her life again and Kristen hopes for an HEA. Together they face danger and a past that comes back to pull them apart. I was not prepared for the twist to this story but enjoyed it very much. I look forward to the next in this series.

Steamy read with suspense

Dirty Little Secrets - A.J. Nuest

This is a steamy love story with danger lurking around the corner. The chemistry between Xander and Charlie is strong and happens fast. These two will do anything for each other. I really enjoyed reading this story and did not want to put it down. This is the second in a series but the books stand alone although characters come and go from the other book. I look forward to the next installment.

Academics meets adventure, a fun read

Duke with Benefits (Studies in Scandal) - Manda Collins

I enjoyed this story greatly. The adventures and puzzle solving were fun. Having such academically inclined heroines makes this series a good read. Daphne is learning how to consider the feelings of others while solving a puzzle given specifically to her. Dalton is drawn to her because of her intelligence and wants to protect her, even when she does not want that protection. This was a fun, romantic read, and I recommend this book. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Fate brings two people together to sort out their pasts

Broken Wide Open - Susan Griscom, Charley Ongel, Tor Thom

Grace is a sweet person, experiencing the dog side of men. As she tries to find herself, she finds Leo while on her supposed honeymoon-now vacation. A friendship arises although there is a strong chemistry between them. When fate brings them back together, I enjoyed that same chemistry as they fumble through their relationship and dealing with their pasts with a twist I did not expect. I recommend this story, whether read or listened to.

Danger follows as love grows

The Highland Commander (The Highland Lords) - Amy Jarecki
I loved Maddie's positive outlook on life despite her situation. She had strength to carry on when others tried to bring her down. She does have a low point which had tears in my eyes. Aiden made me smile more often than not as he grows to realize his true feelings. There are many ups and downs, danger, and separations for these two, but their love is strong enough to pull them through.

Station does not stop love

The Mysterious Governess - Beverley Oakley

Some people get their just desserts and others get the very best. The main couple is Lissa and Ralph with a couple pairings around them. Lissa is a governess to earn her way in this life because she is illegitimate. Ralph is above her station but they feel a pull that draws them together. Their struggles to be with each other kept me reading this story.

I received a copy of this through Candid Book Reviews, and this is my unsolicited review.

Not scary if you enjoy werewolf stories but still enjoyable.

Wheel Wolf - January Valentine

At first I was not sure if I would enjoy this story. Then I was caught up in the hunt for a serial killer. Jack is a good man who experiences some very bad things but accepts the unknown as he experiences it. I know the description is "horror", but I found it very enjoyable and not at all scary. The end of the story was a bit happy/sad for me and I thought it wrapped up the story nicely.

Another release today! Congratulations to Manda Collins.

Lady Daphne Forsyth is a brilliant mathematician with a burning passion for puzzles. When she learns that the library belonging to her benefactress houses the legendary Cameron Cipher—an encrypted message that, once solved, holds the key to great riches—Daphne is on the case. Unfortunately, her race to unlock the cipher’s code is continually thwarted by a deliciously handsome distraction she hadn’t counted on . . . and cannot resist.

Dalton Beauchamp, the Duke of Maitland, is curious as to why Daphne is spending so much time snooping around his aunt’s bookshelves. He’s even more intrigued by her bold yet calculating manner: She is unapologetic about her secret quest . . . and the fiery attraction that develops between them both. But how can they concentrate on solving a perplexing enigma once the prospect of true love enters the equation?

Release day for The Highland Commander by Amy Jarecki.

Addiction, danger, patience, and faith pulled me in

Addicted to the Duke: An Imperfect Lords Novel - Bronwen Evans

A terrible past haunts Alex and he must face his demons when he rescues Hestia. She knows her heart belongs to Alex, but it takes a lot of faith, patience, and strength to help him find his way to his own heart. Alex is a very tortured soul, physically and emotionally, and I wanted to help him see the light. Hestia is young and honest, but learns and accepts the bad in the world, and I applauded her strength. I highly recommend this story and give a mild warning about the dark aspects of this story. It kept me reading whenever I could. I enjoy Ms. Evans stories, and look forward to more in this series.

Finding love lifts them from despair

An Unnatural Vice (Sins of the Cities) - KJ Charles

Dark and unusual story, second in a series with a common thread. This is Nathaniel's story as he tries to help find the people behind his friends' troubles. He encounters Justin when he attempts to debunk a seance. Justin is one of the most unhappy people ever. Their relationship is adversarial, touching, and just what they each need. Danger brings them closer and shows what is really important. I really enjoyed this story, and look forward to more from this author.

Very interesting listen

Re-Wired - Greg Dragon

There were plenty of twists to this story, and I did not want to stop listening. Brad is lonely and makes an android. Tricia is so real, others cannot tell that she is not human. The emotional ups and downs, and the wondering which way will it go kept my attention. I felt sorry for both Tricia and Brad as the story played out, and the ending caught me off guard. I really liked this story.

Love means leaning on others

Bryce (The Player) (Volume 1) - Nana Malone

Bryce needs to recover from his injury but has not real drive until he sees Tammy. Together, they face their fears and move forward with their lives. Bryce was a sweetheart but a little too used to getting what he wants. Tammy was strong but had to learn to let go. I enjoyed this listen.

I received this is a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

How far will you go for love?

Bound By Darkness (Eternally Mated Novel) - Valerie Twombly

This was my first story in this series. Kelana is out for revenge. She has a strong spirit because of everything she has gone through, yet she is willing to accept the new experiences. She rescues Lyzander from torture and together they face danger. Lyzander is a little wary to start but accepts that she is his mate. He stole my heart when he went to great lengths to save Kelana. I enjoyed this book a lot and will be checking out the rest of the series.

I received a copy of this book as a gift, and it is one of the selections through Authors XP. This is my unsolicited review.
